Exhibition Stands: January Furniture Show, NEC Birmingham

Exhibition Stand Builder for January Furniture Show 2027

January Furniture Show runs 24–27 January 2027 across Halls 1, 2, 3 and 5 at the NEC Birmingham, the UK's dedicated trade event for furniture, home and interiors brands. We build exhibition stands at the NEC, in custom wooden construction or on our DUM FLEX™ frame, with the organiser's drawings, approvals and our own crew on site. Our closest reference in this sector is a 36 m² showroom stand for Sandalyeci's contract furniture collections at Passenger Terminal Expo; our most recent build in this venue is an 18 m² DUM FLEX stand for Bren Power at Smart Manufacturing Week.

Room-Set Stands

January Furniture Show runs on room-sets, not open booths

The organiser splits the show by category across four halls: Hall 1, Hall 2 (home, garden and lifestyle), Hall 3 (living, dining and cabinets) and Hall 5 (upholstery and beds). Halls 1 and 5 run heavier on space-only plots, built as full room-sets rather than dressed shells.

A room-set has to read as a room, not a stand

A sofa or a dining set photographs and sells differently in a lived-in setting than it does against a bare wall, so lighting temperature and colour rendering matter as much as the floor plan: fabric and wood tones need to look true, not flattened under generic rig lighting. We treat that as a design decision from the first drawing: wall finishes, flooring and lighting chosen to put the furniture in a believable setting, not a backdrop that competes with the product.

A space-only plot in Hall 1 or Hall 5 carries no shell to work around, which means the room-set can run full height and full depth instead of fitting inside someone else's frame. We design to that freedom from the floor plan outward, in custom wooden construction or on our DUM FLEX™ frame depending on how much of the build needs to come back for a future show.

International Exhibitors

More than a third of exhibitors fly in for this show

The organiser's 2025 figures put international exhibitors at 35% of the floor and first-time exhibitors at 38%, with buyers on a £1m+ budget up 35% on the year before, a show that keeps drawing brands and budgets it did not already have.

Why a UK build partner matters from a distance

A brand exhibiting from outside the UK is flying in for four days, not managing a build site for weeks beforehand. We run the design and the organiser's drawing approvals remotely, on calls scheduled around your hours, so the only thing that needs your presence is the show itself.

A first show gets no second chance

The organiser's own exhibitor manual, deadlines and plan approval process apply from the first edition a brand exhibits, the same as the hundredth. We carry that paperwork and the NEC's own venue rules ourselves, so a first-time exhibitor is not learning the process and building a stand at the same time.

Our Reference

Our reference in this sector: a showroom stand for Sandalyeci

We have not yet built specifically for January Furniture Show. Our closest reference is a 36 m² Bespoke stand for Sandalyeci's contract furniture collections at Passenger Terminal Expo, built as an open showroom rather than a closed booth.

A vertical timber-slat wall as the backdrop

A vertical timber-slat feature wall gave the stand a warm architectural backdrop instead of a flat painted panel, with illuminated branding and an integrated digital screen carrying the product story.

An open layout the product can be experienced in

The open layout let visitors experience the seating and tables directly, grouped by type rather than boxed into separate bays. That same logic, a warm, open setting the product can be experienced in rather than just looked at, is what a room-set at January Furniture Show is built around.

NEC Birmingham

One venue, four halls, different rules by hall

Halls 1 and 5 carry a 15.5 m ceiling where most other NEC halls run 10–10.6 m, and anything fixed to the roof structure is booked through the NEC's own rigging department rather than a contractor's own crew.

Our most recent build in this venue

Our most recent NEC project is an 18 m² DUM FLEX™ stand for Bren Power at Smart Manufacturing Week, in the venue's engineering halls. The venue's loading, rigging and logistics rules carry across NEC shows; we design to each organiser's own exhibitor manual once a stand is appointed. More on building at the NEC →

Questions

Exhibiting at January Furniture Show: the questions we get asked

When and where is January Furniture Show 2027?

24–27 January 2027, across Halls 1, 2, 3 and 5 at the NEC Birmingham, in the show's 37th edition. Dates and halls are published by the organiser on thefurnitureshows.com.

What is January Furniture Show?

January Furniture Show is the UK's dedicated trade event for furniture, home and interiors brands, run by Clarion Events. The organiser's plan for the 2027 edition puts scale at 500+ brands and 20,000+ qualified buyers; the 2025 edition reported 35% international exhibitors and 38% exhibiting for the first time.

Have you built exhibition stands at January Furniture Show before?

Not yet. Our closest reference in this sector is a 36 m² Bespoke showroom stand for Sandalyeci's contract furniture collections at Passenger Terminal Expo; our most recent build at the NEC Birmingham itself is an 18 m² DUM FLEX™ stand for Bren Power at Smart Manufacturing Week.

Is January Furniture Show suited to exhibitors coming from outside the UK?

Yes. The organiser's 2025 figures put international exhibitors at over a third of the floor. We run design and organiser drawing approvals remotely and have our own crew on site for the build, so exhibiting from abroad does not mean managing a UK build site yourself.

Can we build a full room-set rather than a shell-scheme stand?

Yes. Halls 1 and 5 run heavier on space-only plots built as full room-sets. We build these in custom wooden construction or on our DUM FLEX™ frame, depending on whether the build needs to be reusable for a future show.

How early should we appoint a stand builder for January Furniture Show?

As soon as your plot is confirmed with the organiser. Appointing the builder early puts the design, the organiser's drawing approvals and the NEC's rigging and logistics booking on one programme, rather than racing the tenancy dates once the halls open for build-up.
